AmeriCorps VISTA members build capacity in nonprofit organizations and public agencies to help them more effectively generate the commitment of private sector resources, encourage volunteer service at the local level, and empower individuals and communities. Align9 received a grant from The Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) to fund four (4) VISTA members who have been instrumental in the progress of Align9 to date. We look forward to future partnerships with CNCS.

CIT is an innovative first-responder model of police-based crisis intervention with community, health care, and advocacy partnerships. CIT provides 40 hours of specialized training for problem solving and de-escalating crisis situations with individuals who have a mental illness. Studies show it also improves the safety of patrol officers, consumers, family members, and citizens within the community.

The East Tennessee CIT (ET CIT) Task Force broadened its reach by working with Align9 to host the training in Roane County. Twenty-three law enforcement personnel and public advocates graduated from Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training on March 13. The graduates represented a wide range of departments and agencies: Align9, Clinton Police Department, Johnson City Police Department, Morgan County Drug Court, Oak Ridge Police Department, Prevention Alliance, Roane County Sheriff’s Office, Roane State Police Department, and WestCare TN.
